Doyle celebrates his winner against Tottenham.
Kevin Doyle hopes to banish the painful memory of Republic of Ireland failing to make the World Cup by helping Wolves stay in the Premier League.
The Republic came within a whisker of qualifying for South Africa next summer before Thierry Henry's controversial handball ensured France won a spot in the tournament.
Former Reading striker Doyle scored the winner as Wolves bagged a rare win against Spurs at the weekend and the striker knows where his focus will be between now and the end of the season.
Doyle is desperate to keep Mick McCarthy's newly-promoted side in England's top-flight and back-to-back wins have seen Wolves move out of the drop zone.
The 26-year-old concedes he may never get over the disappointment of missing out on playing in a World Cup, but that keeping Wolves out of the bottom three would ease his pain.
"I didn't watch the draw and next summer I probably won't watch the World Cup either," explained Doyle.
"I just hope to do well with Wolves and be in the Premiership and forget about all that next summer.
"It took a while to get that defeat to France out of my system. I'll tell you that much.
"Who knows if I'll be around for another chance, will we be in such a good position again?
"It'll never be out of my system completely unless I do get to a World Cup."
